Producer Story:

In the verdant, mountainous terrain of Rulindo District, nestled between 1,500 and 2,000 meters above sea level in Rwanda’s Northern Province, lies the Rulindo Washing Station, operated by Kabila Coffee Company Ltd. Established in 2016, this station has quickly become a pillar of excellence in Rwanda’s specialty coffee landscape, drawing on the region’s cool climate, volcanic soils, and longstanding coffee-growing heritage.

This captivating Red Bourbon lot was produced by dedicated local farmers, coordinated through the station. It was processed using the fully washed method—a meticulous protocol featuring depulping, carefully monitored fermentation, and rigorous grading—to deliver a coffee of exceptional clarity and vibrancy.

The resulting cup is bright and elegant. It reveals nuanced notes of citrus blossom, green tea, and buttery caramel, showcasing the refined balance and expressive aromatics characteristic of Rulindo’s terroir. Each sip embodies the region’s unique microclimate and the farmers’ disciplined craftsmanship.

Though relatively new compared to long-established washing stations, Rulindo’s reputation has grown steadily, with the district recognized for producing coffees with floral, fruit-forward flavors and high-altitude vivacity. Kabila Coffee’s investment in Rulindo not only maps this quality to international markets but also supports local livelihoods through traceability, farmer training, and inclusive partnerships.

Every cup from Kabila’s Rulindo station tells a story of precision, place, and pride—crafting a modern legacy for Northern Rwanda’s bountiful coffee hills.
