At Rwamatamu Coffee in the hills of Mbare Shyogwe Sector, 1,750 m above sea level, every step is done with care and intention. This washed Red Bourbon is handpicked at peak ripeness, floated in pure mountain water from the river that runs past our station to remove any underripe cherries, then washed and sun-dried slowly on raised beds. As they dry, we carefully turn and sort the beans to ensure even, beautiful drying. The result is a vibrant, clean, and sweet cup—the results speak for themselves in this lot and in every coffee we produce.

Description:

Cupping notes: A beautifully structured coffee with black tea, black currant, and tropical notes of lychee and mango. Juicy and smooth with notes of apple juice, mandarin, key lime, and stone fruits, layered over dark chocolate, coconut, dates, and caramel. Floral, aromatic, and honey-sweet, with hints of brown sugar, blueberry yogurt, and citrus. Exceptional clarity, balance, and complexity, finishing with a long, elegant floral-fruity aftertaste.

Producer Story:

Mukantwaza Laetitia, a mother of three and proud grandmother, began her coffee journey in 2009. What started as a way to provide for her family grew into a mission to uplift her community. Today, she mentors 24 young farmers through the DUKURANE Youth Association and oversees her own five-hectare farm with 25,000 coffee trees, where cherries from youth, women’s cooperatives, and local growers are transformed into high-quality coffee. Laetitia’s story is one of resilience, vision, and a deep belief that coffee can change lives.
